Oikawa, having no more use for Ken, attempts to hand him off to Daemon, however, Davis intervenes. The other DigiDestined arrive, and with their help, Ken is able to open a gate to the Dark Ocean and send Daemon through it. This one is a real doozy. To get the obvious out of the way, I will admit that it is very disappointing for this to be Daemon's final appearance, given that his origins and plans are never revealed, a lack of closure that has inspired tremendous ire from the fanbase. That being said, there's no denying the quality of this closer to the Daemon Corps invasion, which excels in both action and emotional appeal (except in the case of the always weeping Ichijouji parents).<br/><br/>The fight with Daemon is great for several reasons. Not only are the combatants' attacks drawn EXCELLENTLY, but there's a real sense of direness, with the heroes quickly running out of options on how to defeat this latest foe. Because of this, the team is forced to figure out a solution other than brute force, leading to one of the defining character moments in the series. Ken's effort to open the dark gate (probably at risk to himself) is the climax of his redemption, as this is where the team shows the fullness of their support. There is much to be said about Davis' statements. Despite popular opinion, I would say Davis is one of the best leaders in the franchise. While he is not the sharpest tool in the shed and often finds that his teammates do not take him seriously, he has proved capable of making difficult decisions, has encouraged the team to endure through difficult moments and actively helped at least one teammate become a better person. There is real intensity to this scene, which serves as a good illustration of the difference that those who care about you can make in overcoming old wounds, especially during times of self-doubt.<br/><br/>Beyond this, moments worth noting include June's crush on Jim and Ken introducing his parents to Wormmon. June has really grown on me because, as minor characters go, she has one of the more complete subplots in the franchise. She begins meeting Matt, tricks him into a date, goes through his attempts to avoid her, gets a blast of reality when he chooses Sora, and finally develops an interest in someone new. It's not a vital part of the story, but has certainly been amusing and appreciably handled.
